Congress has once again disappointed the American public with its spineless refusal to put weight behind its words. Today it voted to “oppose” the war in Libya while continuing to fund it. Um, guess what? That is the same as supporting it.
I am thoroughly disgusted by the state of foreign (and domestic) affairs in this country. The state of affairs is not a natural occurence, but a situation shaped by the actions and inactions of our government. We have a President committed to warmaking who won the Nobel Peace Prize not long ago. We have representatives in Congress who oppose war while financing it. As a social worker, I continue to watch in horror as the same Congress that funds directionless military interventions votes to cut the Food Stamp program by $17 billion while food prices are rising; to cut the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program by $504 million; and do nothing to truly help Americans who can’t get by. I call to voice my opposition, and some bureaucrat “notes” my comments to the Senator and thanks me for calling.

You can't forget about the debt ceiling. Obama wants more money, as a senator….well what little he did……. Obama opposed any increase in the debt ceiling, he said, "it would be irresponsible to allow the goverment to continue spending as it has done in the past years and continues to do so"…..So where is this…Obama now!.. We need to hold all of these politicians accountable, but it seems that we the voters and the media are the gutless wonders. We the voters are spineless, we are not hold our representives accountable. Lets get off our butts and start really voting. Throw the 2 party system out of our minds and start voting with our intellect.!!!

You are so right. The question is, how? There is no one to vote for, and the uninformed and the well meaning will always pick from the lot we are given. What to do? How do we get rid of the whole Congress and a President at the same time? They've written everything in such a way that we can't get rid of them, haven't they? Got any ideas?
