Basic income is a hot topic this year at New York’s blockchain week. Join the discussion this evening to learn about four different OpenUBI projects: two cryptocurrencies (Manna and GoodDollar), an independent digital currency (Project Greshm), and a Sybil-resistant decentralized identity system (BrightID). We will kick off at 6:00pm with an introduction to Universal Basic Income (UBI) by our esteemed guest Dr. Michael A. Lewis, Professor of Public Policy at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and co-founder of the US Basic Income Guarantee (USBIG), followed by lightning talks from each project. Later we will begin our panel discussion comparing the opportunities and challenges inherent in different kinds of basic income systems, concluding with an audience Q&A. Joining the panel is Diane Pagen, social worker and policy analyst, representing Basic Income NYC.

This is a free event. Refreshments will be served.
