Since I have been into the idea of Universal Basic Income for 15 years, it is needless to say that Andrew Yang is my preferred Presidential candidate, as he supports a national Universal Basic Income for us all, and he has worked out a concrete plan to do it. This makes him a preferable candidate to Bernie Sanders, who has not committed to a UBI, and who continues to (disappointingly) stick to the “guaranteed jobs” proposal. It also makes Andrew a superior candidate to the many other otherwise good candidates such as Beto and Pete, who are both extremely intelligent and motivated to lead, but unwilling to embrace a Universal Basic Income as of yet.

Bernie’s preference for jobs programs over UBI may have been reasonable as few as four or even five years ago, when many many people who had the mic were still clinging to the notion that jobs were not disappearing in large numbers, as well as claiming that whatever was disappearing would be replaced by “the jobs of the 21st century.” Ha. Today, in 2019, we know the truth: automation is shredding swaths of human jobs, including at our drug stores, our clothing stores, and our banks. As Andrew has written, 30% of malls are closing in the next few years. We have ghost malls all over the country. In NYC, every morning commuter sees dozens of homeless people on their way to work. It is only a matter of time before more of us people who are still working join those people on the streets. Unless we do something as bold as a UBI.

Undecided? Come out to the rally May 14th, and ask your questions. Be sure to RSVP at the website, www.yang2020.com

We don’t have another four years to waste debating whether we need a Universal Basic Income. We have all the information we need.
