In December 2021, a group of concerned citizens of NYC sent this petition to then Commissioner of Health Dr. Dave Chokshi. Dr. Chokshi did not respond, despite multiple follow up attempts on our part. Eventually, right before leaving his job in March 2022 he responded with a form letter that did not address any of the concerns the signers of the petition brought to him.
On March 17, 2022, Dr. Ashwin Vasan took over as the Commissioner of Health of NYC and continued to run the agency in the same unapproachable, pro-edict, and politically-driven way that his predecessor did. In addition to the troubling lack of ways for an ordinary NYer to reach the Department of Health that went unreformed by Dave Chokshi, Dr. Vasan made it evident he intended to blur the line between pharmaceutical promotion and public health policy. Since his first day, Dr. Vasan has parroted all the messaging of Covid19 vaccine manufacturers and has ignored evolving evidence that confirms their inability to prevent transmission as well as ignoring news stories of vaccine related injuries and unexplained deaths of healthy people that should be investigated to see if the Covid vaccine played a role.
The same week Commissioner Vasan took the job, we re-delivered the same petition we had shared with Dave Chokshi, and asked requested the same of Dr. Vasan. As with Dr. Chokshi, we had to mail the petition Certified Return Receipt to the Department at 125 Worth Street since we had no verifiable public facing email address for Dr. Vasan.
It has now been six months since Commissioner Vasan officially received the attached petition and throughout these six months, despite my regular and cordial follow up efforts, I have not received any reply from the Commissioner nor from the Dept of Health that addresses or acknowledges the petition, the 80 people who signed it, nor the concerns contained in it.
